Dark Syrian

Opgegeven variëteit: Dark Syrian

[Reference entry - not a grower report] This post was generated automatically from public fig references to seed the variety archive. It is not anyone's first-hand growing experience, and the photos are generic Wikimedia images of Ficus carica, not of this specific variety. Corrections from real growers are welcome. Dark Syrian is reported to produce medium to large fruits with dark brown to nearly black skin, commonly with a somewhat elongated or pear-like shape. The flesh is described as amber to reddish-brown, typically sweet and of good quality. Ripening is generally mid to late season. The variety is noted for reliable production and is sometimes grown in both fresh and dried-fruit contexts. Little is widely documented about leaf morphology or precise synonyms in English-language references, and confusion with other dark Syrian-origin varieties (such as Aqaba Noir or other unnamed local selections) is common. Verification against trusted sources or established collections is recommended for certain identification.
