Black Ischia

Ilmoitettu lajike: Black Ischia

[Reference entry - not a grower report] This post was generated automatically from public fig references to seed the variety archive. It is not anyone's first-hand growing experience, and the photos are generic Wikimedia images of Ficus carica, not of this specific variety. Corrections from real growers are welcome. Black Ischia is a dark-skinned fig commonly described as producing medium to large fruits with deep purple or nearly black skin when fully ripe. The flesh is typically red or deep pink, and the fruit ripens in mid to late season. This variety is reported to be productive and relatively cold-hardy for a fig. It is sometimes listed under the synonym Ischia Nera. Black Ischia is often confused with other dark varieties such as Negronne or Black Mission, which differ in flesh color, skin texture, and ripening time. Leaf lobing is typically moderate, with 3–5 lobes.
